Houston QB Greg Ward won't play Saturday against Lamar

Houston Cougars quarterback Greg Ward Jr. won't play Saturday against Lamar, the school announced.

Sports Illustrated was first with the report.

Junior Kyle Postma will get his second career start for the No. 7 Cougars.

Ward injured his right shoulder in the Week 1 victory against Oklahoma. Coach Tom Herman said early in the week that an MRI showed no structural damage but that Ward was dealing with soreness.

Ward sat out practice on Tuesday, according to the Houston Chronicle, and Herman said midweek that there was a chance Ward might sit out.
