Florida State suspends 2 starters for rules violation

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Florida State defensive starters Christian Jones and Eddie Goldman have been suspended for Saturday's game against Bethune-Cookman, FSU football coach Jimbo Fisher announced Thursday.

Speaking after the Seminoles' final practice before the game, Fisher said Goldman will be replaced by defensive tackle Demonte McAllister, and Jones will be replaced by linebacker Terrance Smith.

Fisher would not elaborate on the cause of the suspensions. "It's all correctable, it's all done with," he said. "We have to abide by a certain set of guidelines."

The Tallahassee (Fla.) Democrat is a Gannett property.
