Virginia Tech defensive coordinator Bud Foster said Wednesday that the football program would consider taking funds from new cost of attendance stipends for players in the form of disciplinary fines.
Athletic director Whit Babcock, when informed of Foster's idea, quickly shot it down.
"It will be stopped immediately," Babcock told Paste BN Sports.
In the past, Virginia Tech's football program has taken money out of bowl stipends for disciplinary issues such as curfew violations or personal fouls.
Foster's comment comes at a time when student athlete welfare is one of the most prominent issues and concerns in college sports.
