Wake Forest leak scandal: Who is ex-radio announcer and coach Tommy Elrod?

What do we know about the man behind the Wake Forest leak scandal — or better known as #wakeyleaks?

The university introduced former Wake Forest radio announcer Tommy Elrod into the national spotlight in a condemning statement, detailing his involvement in "providing or attempting to provide" game plans — through emails, text messages and phone records — to opponents, and in doing so extinguished any involvement by anyone else in the athletic department.

Here's a look at what we know about Elrod's background:

► For starters, Elrod, 41, had been serving as an analyst on Wake Forest's radio broadcast crew for the past three years.

► Elrod was a former player on the Demon Deacons’ football team. His playing days were between 1994 and 1997 and he has one letter (in 1996) according to Wake Forest's athletic archives.

► He was a dean's list student and received his bachelor's degree from Wake Forest in 1997 (communications) and his master's in 2001 (business administration).

► After a brief stint at Wofford College (2002), he served on the Wake coaching staff under fill-in Baylor coach Jim Grobe, starting as a graduate assistant (1999-2001) and then subsequently holding various positions over the course of 11 seasons starting in 2003.

► In 2011, Elrod helped lead the Deacons' passing attack to a school record 3,291 yards, while coaching quarterback Tanner Price (school record of 4,366 yards in first two seasons).

► Under Elrod's guidance, quarterback Riley Skinner set nearly every season and career passing record at the school.

► Elrod was not retained as a coach when Dave Clawson was hired in 2014 and that's when he went to the Wake Forest IMG Radio Network.
