A standout junior season has convinced North Carolina quarterback Mitch Trubisky to enter the NFL draft.

Trubisky, in his first year as a starter, threw for 3,748 yards and 30 touchdowns while leading the Tar Heels to an 8-5 record.

He made the announcement in a post on Twitter.

"This has been the most difficult decision of my life, because of the unbelievable people and experiences I've had at the University of North Caroliana," Trubisky posted. "I'm so thankful for my family, my teammates, coaches, trainers, strength staff, academic staff and all of the fans of Tar Heel Nation."

Trubisky is projected to be among the top quarterbacks taken in April's draft.
