Derek Jeter, Michael Jordan on Michigan sidelines for opener

Jim Harbaugh continues to draw the big names.

On Saturday, for the Michigan opener against Hawaii, two of sports' biggest stars, retired stars, were on the Wolverines' sidelines: Michael Jordan and Derek Jeter.

Jeter was a Michigan student for less than a year before starting his pro baseball career, but has remained a passionate fan.

That included a yearly bet with his New York Yankees owner George Steinbrenner, an Ohio native and avowed Ohio State supporter on the Michigan-Ohio State football game.

"When he lost, I'd sort of lie about what I wanted," Jeter recalled Friday at a Jordan Brand appearance in Ann Arbor at Dick's Sporting Goods. "We had a lot of fun going back and forth with the rivalry."
