Purdue calls a timeout with 2 seconds left in half ... to take a knee
The first half for Purdue didn't go well against Iowa — 35-7 Hawkeyes, who have 397 total yards — and getting to the locker room would have seemed to be a priority.
Apparently not for the Boilermakers.
With 2 seconds left in the half, with Purdue on its own 36, the Boilermakers called a timeout. And then quarterback David Blough took a knee. Perhaps there were discussions about attempting a Hail Mary? If so, the idea was rejected.
Twitter was amused.
Though the Boilermakers are 3-2 and coming off a 34-31 victory against (equally inept) Illinois, things are not positive for head coach Darrell Hazell. Hazell is 9-32 with just three wins in Big Ten play. Only five of those nine victories were against Football Bowl Subdivision opponents.
