Ohio State thin at running back after injury to projected starter Master Teague
Ohio State will be without running back Master Teague III during spring practice because of an undisclosed injury, the football program’s spokesman confirmed to The Dispatch on Tuesday.
Teague is the heir apparent to 2,003-yard rusher J.K. Dobbins. Teauge ran for 789 yards (5.8 per carry) in 2019 as Dobbins’ backup, earning third-team All-Big Ten honors.
The sophomore participated on Monday in the first day of spring practice, and coach Ryan Day gave no indication in his subsequent press conference that Teague had been injured.
The Buckeyes were thin at running back even before Teague’s injury. Sophomore Marcus Crowley is recovering from a knee injury sustained last year. Redshirt freshman Steele Chambers is the only other scholarship running back. Freshman Miyan Williams won’t enroll until June.
Senior Demario McCall has played running back but is also competing as the hybrid receiver.
