Heisman Trophy odds: Which players are the favorites to win the award early on?

The 2024 college football season may just be getting underway, but it's never too early to start wondering if your team's best player can walk away with college football's most-coveted individual award, the Heisman Trophy, by the end of the season. Unsurprisingly though, the odds since the beginning of the season haven't shifted much at all.
Quarterbacks like Carson Beck, Jalen Milroe, and Quinn Ewers are still far and away the frontrunners, and likely will be until one of their teams loses. Seeing as those three listed are the quarterbacks for three of the top four teams in the nation, per the US LBM Coaches Poll, that probably won't happen for a while.
As of right now, there is no clear frontrunner for the award, but the favorites are very clear. All odds via BetMGM.

Week 3 college football predictions: Expert picks for every Top 25 game
Quinn Ewers is the favorite
Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers has established himself as the early favorite (+475) after two incredible performances against Colorado and Michigan.
The effort against Michigan helped Ewers' case astronomically. Michigan, then ranked in the top-ten, was expected to take a few steps back on offense this year after losing both quarterback J.J. McCarthy and star running back Blake Corum to the NFL. However, their defense was still expected to be one of the best in the nation, yet Ewers still threw for 246 yards, three touchdowns, and no interceptions in the game, leading Texas to a massive 31-12 victory.
Shedeur Sanders drops down leaderboard
Much like Humpty Dumpty, Colorado's Shedeur Sanders' Heisman odds have taken a massive odds tumble since the start of the season. Although Sanders was never a runaway favorite, he was expected to compete for the award. Sanders has not been bad since the start of the season; rather he's completed nearly 70% of his passes for 689 yards and five touchdowns in two games. However, Colorado has not looked like a very competitive team, which hurts Sanders' Heisman hopes.
Sanders currently sits just outside the top-20 in odds (+6600). Colorado teammate and two-way player Travis Hunter currently has better odds than Sanders (+4000).
Who else is near the top of the rankings?
With Ewers (+475) as the favorite, the remainder of the top-five consists of Tennessee's Nico Iamaleava (+750), Georgia's Carson Beck (+800), Miami's Cam Ward (+825), and Ole Miss' Jaxson Dart (+900).
