Knee likely to keep Utah State quarterback Chuckie Keeton out for season

Utah State quarterback Chuckie Keeton is likely out for the season after injuring his surgically repaired left knee, head coach Matt Wells announced Wednesday evening.

"Chuckie's health is our top priority and he has not been cleared to play by our medical staff," said Wells. "We will continue to monitor his progress throughout the fall, but given his current condition it is unlikely that he will play in any games in the foreseeable future."

The injury happened during the second quarter of Utah State's Sept. 13 game vs. Wake Forest. Keeton injured his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and medial collateral ligament (MCL) last season vs. BYU. He did not play in Utah State's last game vs. Arkansas State.

Keeton, who did not redshirt last year and played two and a half games this season, threw for 426 yards and is one of five FBS quarterbacks to throw for at least 6,000 yards and rush for at least 1,000 yards in his career. He was a candidate for multiple individual national awards this season.

Utah State is 2-2 this season and is scheduled to play at No. 18 BYU on Friday.
