Christian McCaffrey resurrects his Heisman self to help Stanford drub Cal

Stanford running back Christian McCaffrey, last year's Heisman Trophy runner-up and a preseason favorite to win this year, hasn't had the same type of season in 2016, putting up relatively pedestrian numbers compared to his 2015 campaign.

But on Saturday against Cal, McCaffrey eclipsed the 200-yard plateau for the first time all season and showed flashes of his former dominant self in leading his team to a 45-31 victory. The junior finished with 284 yards on 31 carries to break his own single-game school rushing record. He also had three touchdowns.

This play — a 90-yard run to the end zone — in particular gave Cardinal fans a refresher of the junior's explosiveness. It was his longest touchdown from scrimmage of his career.
