Arizona State president Michael Crow puts Herm Edwards' job security in question after loss

Arizona State University president Michael Crow threw football coach Herm Edwards’ job security into question on the field after the Sun Devils embarrassing 30-21 loss to Eastern Michigan late Saturday.

"They showed up to play, and we didn’t," Crow told The Arizona Republic after the game. "That’s basically the outcome."

Crow has supported Edwards in the past, but not this time.

"Like anything, when you’re in combat, you support your officers," Crow said. "And we’re in combat. But we’ll have to decide where we’re going from here and decide what the issues are and see where we’re headed."

The game left little room for confidence that the program could turn things around quickly, which Crow also addressed.

"There can be quick fixes," he said. "There are several types of those, so we’ll just have to see where we’re headed."

Could that mean Edwards is on the hot seat and that he could be replaced with another such loss?

The guess here is that it’s exactly what that means.
