Final Four women's preview: South Carolina vs. Notre Dame

No. 1 South Carolina (34-2) vs. No. 1 Notre Dame (35-2)

Time: 6:30 p.m. Sunday, ESPN

Why South Carolina will win: Led by Tiffany Mitchell (14.5 points per game) South Carolina is versatile and deep, capable of multiple offense looks and options for first-time Final Four coach Dawn Staley, a former All-American guard at Virginia, WNBA standout, three-time Olympic gold medalist and Hall of Famer.

Why Notre Dame will win: The Irish are fifth nationally in scoring, averaging 80.9 points per game, with junior All-American guard Jewell Lloyd (19.9) and freshman forward Brianna Turner (13.7) leading the way. The huge intangible advantage is familiarity with the bright stage of the Final Four.

History lesson: The Irish shouldn't be intimidated by or unfamiliar with the scene, having advanced to five consecutive Final Fours. And they are certainly due, having played for the national title three times since 2011, but falling to Texas A&M (2011), Baylor (2012) and UConn last season.
