Louisville second in Paste BN Sports women's college basketball poll behind South Carolina

South Carolina will conclude the 2021 portion of the calendar where it has been all season at No. 1 in the Paste BN Sports women’s basketball poll. But the Gamecocks had to work hard to stay there this week.

After staging a huge comeback to overtake then-No. 2 Stanford, the Gamecocks again are the unanimous choice atop the rankings. Stanford slips just one spot to No. 3 as Louisville edges up to No. 2. North Carolina State and Arizona continue to round out the top five.

The next three positions are also unchanged with a fairly light schedule during the holiday week. It’s again an all Big Ten trio headed by No. 6 Indiana, followed by Michigan and Maryland. Tennessee flips positions with Baylor this week to complete the top 10.

Georgia Tech is the week’s biggest mover, though the Yellow Jackets gain just three positions to check in at No. 16. Iowa falls six slots to No. 21 after a one-point upset loss to IUPUI.

In close voting at the end of the poll, LSU nudges into the rankings at No. 24. Just six points behind the Tigers is Ohio State, which holds on at No. 25 by just three points.

Florida Gulf Coast is squeezed out.
