South Carolina maintains dominance at top of Paste BN Sports women's basketball poll


South Carolina is once again the near unanimous No. 1 team in the Paste BN Sports women’s basketball coaches poll.

The Gamecocks have rattled off 14 wins in a row since dropping their SEC opener at Missouri. They again claim 31 of 32 first-place votes in the poll, with the other nod going to No. 2 Stanford. The Cardinal remains unscathed in Pac-12 play with just a few weeks left in the regular season.

Louisville holds steady at No. 3, and ACC rival North Carolina State moves up a spot to No. 4. Iowa State vaults four positions to No. 5.

It was a wild week in the Big Ten as Michigan slips five positions to No. 9 after a pair of losses. Indiana was also bitten by the upset bug but stays put in the poll at No. 6. Arizona holds at No. 7, followed by No. 8 Tennessee. Baylor moves up a spot to round out the top 10.

No. 11 Connecticut fell three spots to slip out of the top 10 after losing to Villanova, which broke its streak of 169 consecutive conference victories.

Virginia Tech is the week’s lone newcomer to the poll at No. 24.

The two teams tied for No. 25 a week ago, Mississippi and Oregon, both fall out.
