National player of the year candidate Lauren Betts has been a force for No. 1 overall seed UCLA this season, and her dominance has carried into the Bruins' first-round women's NCAA Tournament matchup with Southern on Friday night.
Betts, one of the most imposing presences in women's college basketball, has shot 63.4% from the field with 2.9 blocks per game this season. The Centennial, Colorado, product has obviously played a huge role in UCLA's return to the top of the sport this season.

Betts has an athletic family, as her mother, Michelle Betts, won the 1993 national championship in beach volleyball at Long Beach State. Her dad, Andy Betts, was a second-round pick to the Charlotte Hornets in the 1998 NBA Draft. He also stands 7-foot-1, explaining at least in part where her height comes from.
