UConn won its postseason lid lifter against St. John's on Friday with ease, as the Huskies put up 71 points and shot over 45% from the field against the Red Storm defense. Bueckers and Azzi Fudd combined for 31 of UConn's 71 points on the day.
"Thought it was a good team win," Fudd told SNY's Chelsea Sherrod after the win. "We UConn basketball. We played smart. The ball necessarily didn't go in, but we got those good open shots that you ask for. ... Everything was flowing the way it should be."
Villanova advanced to the semifinals to play UConn with a 73-66 win over Marquette in the quarterfinals on Saturday. Bascoe led the Wildcats with 18 points on 7-of-16 shooting with 10 rebounds and four assists.
UConn swept the regular season series against Villanova, with victories of 83-52 and 100-57.
