Paste BN NFL staff weighs in on most intriguing 'ear'y' game in NFL Week 6
We asked the Paste BN NFL staff the following question: "Which of the 1 p.m. (ET) games is the most intriguing matchup to you?" Their responses:
CHRIS D'AMICO
It is a game flying under the radar, but I think the Kansas City at Minnesota matchup will tell us a lot about both teams. For the Chiefs, it is beyond desperation. They need a win. Badly. And the "desperation factor" should be enough to get them one against a team like the Vikings. If not, then maybe the Chiefs just aren't very good. The Vikings, on the other hand, are a team I thought could contend for a wild-card playoff spot in the NFC. And I still think that. If that is to be, this is the kind of game they have to win. You can't be losing to struggling teams at homes and expect to contend for a playoff spot. Not the sexiest matchup on the schedule, but one with a lot at stake for both teams.
LINDSAY JONES
The Buffalo Bills have a chance to prove themselves to be a legitimate AFC playoff contender if they can beat the Cincinnati Bengals. It was one thing to squeak by the Tennessee Titans, it will be another to knock off the Bengals, who, aside from the New England Patriots, are the AFC’s hottest team. I’m intrigued to see how the Bills offense will function without E.J. Manuel instead of Tyrod Taylor, if LeSean McCoy can have a big day against a Bengals defense that showed it could be vulnerable against the run last week, and if the Bills defense is strong enough – particularly in its secondary – to stop the Bengals’ deep and creative offense.
TOM PELISSERO
I'm interested to see if two weeks of talk about intensity and culture change show up in the Dolphins' play under new coach Dan Campbell. They have a very winnable road game against a less-talented Titans team. Even if it's just a placebo effect, I think the Dolphins look like a different team than the one that face planted in London a couple weeks ago.
LORENZO REYES
There’s nothing like a player or coach returning to an old stop to make things interesting. And though Cardinals coach Bruce Arians will never admit it, the messy end to his tenure as Pittsburgh’s offensive coordinator clearly makes this matchup more significant than your average Week 6 showdown. Arizona should come out with an extra edge. Throw in that the Steelers, even without Ben Roethlisberger, badly need a victory to stay in contention in the AFC North, and this matchup is as good as it gets for the early slate.
