Story lines: Before last week’s bye, Buccaneers rookie QB Jameis Winston posted his first turnover-free game in a victory against Jacksonville. That came a week after he gave the ball away five times. … For the third consecutive week, the Redskins will face a big, talented, No. 1 receiver with a banged-up secondary. They made the Falcons’ Julio Jones look ordinary but were torched for 111 yards by the Jets’ Brandon Marshall. This week, it’s 6-5, 230-pound Vincent Jackson. … Bucs RB Doug Martin has put together back-to-back 100-plus yard games that included four TDs and a 5.2-yards-a-carry average. … Washington has been outscored 46-3 in the third quarter.

Mariota (ankle) will not play Sunday … Falcons LG Andy Levitre returns to Nashville after the Titans shipped him to Atlanta in a surprising preseason trade, and he’ll be asked to keep the Titans’ most productive pass rusher, Jurrell Casey, in check. … The Titans haven’t won in Nashville since Week 6 of last season, an eight-game home losing streak. … Falcons RB Devonta Freeman has 801 yards from scrimmage. … The Titans have allowed 129.6 rushing yards a game.

Story lines: Saints rookie WR Willie Snead is quickly developing into a reliable target with 26 catches for a team-high 436 yards and one TD. He also leads the team in average yards per catch at 16.8 and moved into the No. 2 receiver role in the absence of injured WR Marques Colston (shoulder). … Look for the Saints to play a lot of nickel coverage against the Colts receiving corps of Andre Johnson, Donte Moncrief and Hilton. But getting to QB Andrew Luck with a four-man rush is Job No. 1. … Neither team has been effective on the ground, but both defenses have been soft against the run.
MINNESOTA VIKINGS (3-2) AT DETROIT LIONS (1-5)

Story lines: Vikings DT Linval Joseph has been an often-immovable force in his second season in purple and one of the biggest factors behind Minnesota’s improving run “D.” Lions C Travis Swanson has struggled to replace Dominic Raiola and will be tested by Joseph, Sharrif Floyd and the Vikes’ double A-gap pressures. … The Lions’ 546 total yards in Week 6 was the franchise’s second most in franchise history. With three turnovers, Detroit left production on the field. … In two NFL games, rookie Stefon Diggs has been the Vikings’ best receiver and is quickly becoming QB Teddy Bridgewater’s favorite target.

Kansas City had 57 yards (3.2 per rush) last week. … In his two games, Steelers K Chris Boswell has made all five of his field goal tries with four from at least 47 yards. … Pittsburgh QB Landry Jones is expected to make his first career start Sunday. … Steelers RB Le’Veon Bell has rushed for 390 yards in the four games he has played since returning from a two-game suspension.

Look for RB Robert Turbin to get a chance to revitalize Cleveland’s ground attack.

Story lines: There was no secret last week to Texans QB Brian Hoyer’s success as he peppered the NFL’s hottest receiver, DeAndre Hopkins, with 15 targets out of his 36 pass attempts. Hopkins has exceeded 100 receiving yards in his past four games. … Dolphins RB Lamar Miller’s 19 carries last week doubled his season average. The Texans have held just one opponent to fewer than 80 rushing yards. … Texans DE J.J. Watt could go sackless for three consecutive games for the first time since 2013.
OAKLAND RAIDERS (2-3) AT SAN DIEGO CHARGERS (2-4)

Story lines: An early positive for the Raider is the third-best run defense in the league (83.2 yards a game allowed). Disappointing? The rushing offense was 27th (90 ypg). … The addition of WRs Amari Cooper and Michael Crabtree has helped Raiders QB David Carr improve his yards per attempt from a league-low 5.46 in 2014 to 7.23. … The Chargers passed 76.4% of the time in their Week 6 loss with QB Philip Rivers piling up 503 yards. But it RB Melvin Gordon earned little trust with two fumbles. … The Chargers’ four losses have come to teams with a combined 19-4 record.
DALLAS COWBOYS (2-3) AT NEW YORK GIANTS (3-3)

Story lines: Newly installed Cowboys QB Matt Cassel would love to throw deep to WR Dez Bryant, who has been out since Week 1 with a broken foot. He is doubtful for this game . … Injuries are also plaguing the Giants, stealing WR Victor Cruz, CB Prince Amukamara and LBs Devon Kennard and Jon Beason, among others, although WR Odell Beckham Jr. (hamstring) played Monday and should be ready for this game. … Minus DeMarco Murray, the Cowboys have had no individual 100-yard rushing games, and RBs Joseph Randle, Darren McFadden and Christine Michael all are averaging less than 4.0 yards a carry. … Dallas has been outscored 58-13 after halftime. … Giants WR Dwayne Harris, a former Cowboy, has 13 catches, four short of his career high.

Thurmond has made a smooth transition from cornerback to safety and leads the Eagles with three interceptions. … The Panthers have won nine consecutive regular-season games dating to last season. … Eagles RB DeMarco Murray has rushed for 192 yards over the last two weeks. … Panthers MLB Luke Kuechly returned from a three-week absence following a concussion to record 14 tackles in Seattle.
BALTIMORE RAVENS (1-5) AT ARIZONA CARDINALS (4-2)

Story lines: WR Steve Smith, 36, has proved that he still has something left in the tank, but the lack of weapons on offense has allowed defenses to double-team the Ravens’ top receiving threat. If Arizona CB Patrick Peterson can shut down Smith single-handedly, the Cardinals will be able to use their bevy of safeties to bring the pressure from all sides. … Arizona is 8-0 since Week 14 of the 2013 season, when WR Larry Fitzgerald catches at least one TD reception.
