Breaking down the Giants-Saints offensive explosion by the numbers


Some statistical tidbits from the New Orleans Saints’ 52-49 win over the New York Giants on Sunday:

13 combined TD passes: Saints QB Drew Brees had seven, and Giants QB Eli Manning had six for the highest combined total ever in one game. (Previous record was 12 on Nov. 2, 1969, when the Saints' Billy Kilmer and Cardinals' Charley Johnson threw six apiece.)

7 TD passes by Brees: He tied the NFL record for one game, a mark he now shares with five other players. Peyton Manning and Nick Foles most recently joined the club in 2013.

511 passing yards by Brees: The 10th-highest total ever surpassed Brees' previous career high by 1 yard.

101 points: Tied for third-highest combined total by two teams in a game. (Record is 113, Redskins 72, Giants 41 on Nov. 27, 1966.)

63 combined first downs: The Saints had 35 and the Giants 28, the second-highest total between two teams. (Record is 64 by the Seattle Seahawks (32) and Kansas City Chiefs (32) on Nov. 24, 2002.)
