Saints fire defensive coordinator Rob Ryan
The New Orleans Saints made their long-awaited change.
Rob Ryan was fired as the team's defensive coordinator Monday, head coach Sean Payton confirmed.

The Saints defense ranks last in the NFL in total yards allowed (424.7 per game) and in points allowed (31.5 per game). In particular, the last three games have been especially unproductive for New Orleans’ defense, as it has given up an average of 43.3 points per game to the New York Giants (5-5), Tennessee Titans (2-7) and Washington Redskins (4-5). The last two contests have ended up in Saints defeats.
Dennis Allen will now serve as the team's defensive coordinator.
The Saints are currently in their bye week, which makes the timeline favorable for any coaching changes. At 4-6, they are fading quickly in the NFC playoff race.
