Broncos headed to the White House next week

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — Mr. President. Meet Aqib Talib. And Peyton Manning. And Von Miller. And Malik Jackson.

The Denver Broncos, as defending Super Bowl champions, will be visiting the White House on Monday afternoon at the invitation of Barack Obama, our country’s President. The Broncos and Super Bowl 50 MVP Von Miller will put aside their contract matters for the trip. Miller will be with the team. The Broncos are bringing back several former players from their Super Bowl team for the visit, including retired quarterback Peyton Manning and defensive end Malik Jackson, who left for free agency and is now with Jacksonville.

Talib will be spiffy for the occasion, saying he will wear a new custom-fitted, $3,500 suit.

“I’m looking forward to seeing how that looks,” Talib, the Broncos’ Pro Bowl cornerback, said following the team’s offseason practice Tuesday. “Meet Obama before he get up out (of there). Something I’ve never done before. With these guys, too, man, there are so many characters in this locker room, so just to be able to do something I’ve never done before with these guys, it will be a blast for us.”

If Talib gets a chance to address the President, he has an idea of what he’ll say.

“I just want to tell him congratulations,’’ Talib said. “He ran the country for eight years, he must be doing something right. So I’m going to tell him, 'Congrats.  We’re going to miss him.’ Whatever comes to mind.’’
