Patriots swing another trade
The New England Patriots acquired DB Eric Rowe in a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles on Tuesday, ESPN's Mike Reiss reports.
Rowe was a second-round pick out of Utah in 2015. He played in all 16 games last season and started five, rotating in at both cornerback and safety.
Cowboys to keep Romo off IR
Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said injured quarterback Tony Romo won’t be placed on injured reserve to start the season.
Jones told Dallas sports talk staion 105.3 The Fan on Tuesday that he was “not really” interested in listing Romo on short-term injured reserve list, which would have ruled Romo out for the first half of the season.
“His importance to us to be in a game is really kind of unique,” Jone said. “We will be very liberal in evaluating when it is when he can come back.”
Romo is recovering from a broken bone in his back, an injury he sustained in a preseason game on Aug. 26. The injury won’t require surgery and Jones said Romo will be evaluated in about a week to assess his progress.
Romo missed 12 games last season with a broken collarbone. He’s undergone back surgery twice.

Finnegan dropped by Saints
The New Orleans Saints have dropped veteran CB Cortland Finnegan, according to ProFootballTalk.
The Saints already parted with CB Keenan Lewis in August. Delvin Breaux and P.J. Williams are expected to be the starters for New Orleans, which gave up a record 45 touchdown passes last season.
Bridgewater set for surgery
Injured Minnesota Vikings quarterback Teddy Bridgewater will have surgery on his dislocated left knee and torn ACL, per ESPN.
Bridgewater was injured last week in practice on a non-contact play. His recovery could take more than a year, part of the reason Minnesota traded for Sam Bradford over the weekend.
