Bills, Patriots clash in shoving match before game
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - Rex Ryan isn't the only member of the Buffalo Bills who gets fired up for games against the New England Patriots.
Buffalo safety Robert Blanton pushed Patriots quarterback Jacoby Brissett during pregame warmups Sunday, setting off a scuffle that included several shoves and slaps.
Brissett and receiver Malcolm Mitchell were jogging along the sideline near where the Bills players were warming up when Blanton shoved Brissett. The rookie quarterback kept running, but Mitchell stepped in to defend him, pushing back at Blanton. The two shoved each other several times, and Blanton appeared to lower his helmet against Mitchell's at one point.
Several other Bills players got involved, and safety Aaron Williams appeared to shove a New England assistant as he tried to separate the players.
Staffers from both teams eventually broke up the scuffle and warm-ups continued.
