Kessler to start for Browns

Browns coach Hue Jackson said Thursday rookie QB Cody Kessler will start Sunday's game against the Tennessee Titans.

Kessler started last week's game against the New England Patriots but left when he suffered an injury to chest/ribs.

"Cody Kessler practiced (in) full," Jackson told reporters Thursday. "I think he's ready to go."

Cornerback Joe Haden, however, was added to the injury report Thursday with a new groin injury.

Eifert still sidelined; Green returns to practice

Wide receiver A.J. Green returned to the practice field on Thursday after missing Wednesday due to a calf issue. Starting left guard Clint Boling (shoulder) and linebacker Karlos Dansby (veteran’s day) also were back at practice. Jeremy Hill (shoulder) also participated fully. Rex Burkhead (hamstring), George Iloka (shoulder), C.J. Uzomah (ankle) also were full participants.

Cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick was a new addition to the injury report, participating on a limited basis with a hand issue. Andrew Whitworth received a veteran’s day off and James Wright (hamstring) was limited.

Tight end Tyler Eifert (back, ankle) remained out and was not on the side working out with injured players William Jackson III (pectoral), Cedric Peerman (arm) and Brandon Thompson (knee).

Peerman, a Pro Bowler on special teams a year ago, had the cast removed off his broken left arm and was working out with a brace. He and Jackson III, who are both on injured reserve, will be eligible to return after the eighth week of the season.

Lions OL hurting

The Detroit Lions picked a bad time to have a glut of injuries on the interior of their offensive line.

Starting left guard Laken Tomlinson returned to practice today after missing Wednesday's workout with a neck injury, but starting right guard Larry Warford did not practice after unexpectedly appearing on Wednesday's report with a hip injury.

Rookie Graham Glasgow (Michigan) played about half of last weekend's game at left guard in place of Tomlinson and could start at right guard if Warford can't play Sunday against the Los Angeles Rams.

Lions coach Jim Caldwell said Tomlinson's injury "had something to do with" Glasgow's playing time last week.
