Some good news for injured Redskins

The Washington Redskins could see the return of two of their top players in time for Sunday's game in London.

Both star cornerback Josh Norman and tight end Jordan Reed were cleared to travel across the pond for their upcoming game against the Cincinnati Bengals, Redskins coach Jay Gruden told reporters Thursday. However, it's unclear if either will suit up.

Gruden said Norman and Reed will practice Friday to test their availability. Norman suffered a concussion during Sunday's last-second loss to the Detroit Lions. Reed entered the league's concussion protocol following the Week 5 victory against the Baltimore Ravens and missed the next two games. It was the sixth documented head injury of his career, but Reed said this week he's feels "back to normal."

Starting running back Matt Jones, who is in the doghouse following two fumbles Sunday, missed practice again Thursday with a knee injury. If he can't play, rookie Robert Kelley will receive his first NFL start.

Smith on trade reports

BALTIMORE — San Francisco 49ers receiver Torrey Smith has heard all the trade talk. And for now, that is how he is treating it – as talk.

"I have no clue if I'm getting traded or not, it’s rumors,” Smith said Wednesday night after participating in a panel discussion centered around issues facing young black males in Baltimore. “Rumors happen all the time around the trade deadline. I didn't hear anything from my side or my agent or GM so I'm not worried about it. My flight is booked back to California on Sunday so I'll be headed back and be ready to roll."

Multiple reports  last week said Smith was on the trading block, with Philadelphia being one possible destination. Eagles coach Doug Pederson shot down those reports on Wednesday, saying the team is happy with its current receivers.

The NFL trade deadline is Tuesday.
