Latest buzz
All quiet
The trade deadline appears to have come and gone without much fanfare.
Beyond the Johnthan Banks trade by the Lions, no other action appears to have taken place.
Jets trying to unload Richardson
The Jets are openly shopping Sheldon Richardson, according to multiple reports.
They even reached out to the Cowboys, reports say, but no deal yet.
A corner for Detroit
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have traded CB Johnthan Banks to the Detroit Lions, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Banks, a second-round pick in 2013, was expected to be released and but instead was moved for a seventh-round draft pick in 2018.
Possible targets
Cleveland Browns OT Joe Thomas: Browns coach Hue Jackson firmly stated he would not trade the perennial all-pro selection, but Thomas could be in demand with several contenders needing help at offensive tackle.
Browns CB Joe Haden: Haden has been hampered by injuries in the last year and a half but was a Pro Bowl selection in 2013 and '14.
New York Jets DE Sheldon Richardson: Richardson is a talented run stuffer and pass rusher, but he has been suspended twice in the last two years.
San Francisco 49ers OT Joe Staley: A report by Pro Football Talk indicated that Staley could be available at the deadline, but 49ers coach Chip Kelly said no such discussions had taken place and "we need Joe here."
49ers WR Torrey Smith: Smith has just 13 catches for 199 yards this season, his second in a five-year contract.
Completed deals
Tampa Bay Buccaneers trade CB Johnthan Banks to Detroit Lions for seventh-round draft pick: Banks, a 2013 second-round draft pick, fell out of favor in Tampa Bay with Mike Smith taking over the defense. The Lions needed a cornerback to aid a leaky secondary.
New England Patriots trade LB Jamie Collins to Cleveland Browns for draft pick: Bill Belichick stunned many by sending away the Pro Bowl linebacker, who is entering the final year of his contract. A third-round compensatory selection is expected to be the pick relayed to the Patriots.
