Browns switch QBs again
It will be another matchup of rookie quarterbacks in Cleveland this weekend with the Browns choosing to pit Cody Kessler against Dak Prescott and the NFC East-leading Dallas Cowboys.
Kessler missed last weekend's game, when the Browns droppped to 0-8. But he has been the most effective of the team's five signal callers this season while starting a team-high five games under center.
“I want to continue to get a chance to look at him with our team and see if he can continue to put together good drives and execute our offense and see if he can help us get to where we need to be," coach Hue Jackson said Friday.
Veteran Josh McCown, who played well in Sunday's loss to the New York Jets, reverts to backup duty.
“Josh understands the situation we are in. He has been doing this for 15 years, and I appreciate Josh," said Jackson. "I know what Josh means to our football team and to the guys in the locker room. At the same time, as I am evaluating our team as we continue to move forward, there are a lot of things I want to find out and know. The more I can see guys play, the better decisions I can make as we move forward."
Jackson would not necessarily commit to Kessler as his starter for the remainder of the season.
Roethlisberger questionable
All signs point to Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger starting Sunday in Baltimore, less than three weeks after his meniscus was repaired.
Big Ben has been a practice participant all week but is officially listed as questionable.
Talib to sit again
The Denver Broncos will be without Pro Bowl cornerback Aqib Talib for their Sunday night showdown with the Oakland Raiders.
Talib was sent for a cortisone injection in his lower back Friday and coach Gary Kubiak said he was optimistic that will help Talib return to the field soon.
Talib missed Denver’s 27-19 win over San Diego last week when his back stiffened during the team’s walkthrough the day before the game.

Cobb no sure thing for Packers
GREEN BAY, Wis. – After missing last week’s game, Green Bay Packers coach Mike McCarthy said receiver Randall Cobb is “not probably as far along as he’d like to be” with his hamstring injury.
Cobb was limited in practice this week. He said he did more in practice than last week, but McCarthy didn’t sound promising Friday morning. Earlier this week, Cobb said it’s important to consider the “big picture” when dealing with a hamstring injury.
“Nine games in a row coming up,” Cobb said. “We don’t really have a bye, we don’t have much time (off). It’s going to go straight into the playoffs. We have to make sure that we’re looking big picture.”
