The Harrisons: Four NFL figures who flopped in Week 15
In honor of Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker James Harrison's bold stance, our weekly award for players and coaches (and referees) in the NFL for people who didn't even deserve a participation trophy. For Week 15:
Davante Adams, Packers
It was almost too bad to be true. A sure-handed receiver, one of Aaron Rodgers’ favorite weapons. We could understand one drop in the end zone, given the cold weather and all that. But a second? It wasn’t THAT cold. The drops almost came back to haunt the Packers and Adams is fortunate they didn’t.
Pete Carroll, Seahawks
He’s done it before, so we shouldn’t be surprised. With his team ahead 28-3 with just over 5 minutes to play on Thursday against the Rams, he calls for a fake punt. How bush league is that? The fact he got his punter hurt and infuriated the Rams – putting the rest of his players at risk – makes it even dumber. We’re not for participation trophies. But we are for sportsmanship. Carroll should show some.
Todd Prukop, back judge
We realize the catch rule is confusing, but when a receiver (in this case Odell Beckham Jr.) drops the ball on a pass in the first quarter and it bounces off the turf, we are certain that is an incompletion. How about you? Standing right there, you ruled it a completion. Incredible.
Minnesota Vikings
Team award. Your fans tailgated in temperatures below zero. And how did you thank them? You did a no-show in a game you needed to have to keep any playoff hopes alive. Once 5-0 and the talk of the league. That seems so long ago.
