Super Bowl LI line, over-under remain steady

The line for Super Bowl LI hasn’t moved since it was first posted in Nevada sportsbooks more than a week ago.
The New England Patriots remain 3-point favorites over the Atlanta Falcons. The over/under (total points predicted to be scored) has increased a point in recent days to 59.
Whether there’s any movement as Sunday’s kickoff approaches, former bookie Joe Gagliano said it doesn’t matter to the big-time gamblers.
“When you have a two-week break, the higher-profile, smarter money is bet early,” Gagliano told Paste BN Sports. “Those guys have savvy insights and follow certain things. The last-minute money is usually bet more by novices.”

Any surprises on the injury reports could sway the line, though the listing of Patriots kicker Stephen Gostkowski, who missed practice on Friday due to illness, didn’t sway bettors.

Nevada’s sportsbooks took in $132.5 million of action related to Super Bowl 50, according to the state’s gaming control board. Much of the money wagered this year will again be through prop bets.
Still, the 194 sportsbooks in Las Vegas, Reno and elsewhere in Nevada — the only state where sports betting is legal — comprise only a small fraction of the money wagered annually on the Super Bowl. Last year, the American Gaming Association estimated a total of $4.1 billion was wagered on Super Bowl 50.
