Thursday's Kansas City Chiefs-New England Patriots game on NBC saw a ratings dip of about 12% compared to last season's NFL kickoff, according to overnight numbers released by the network.

The Chiefs' 42-27 victory had a 14.6 rating and a 25 share. Last year's season-opening broadcast (Denver Broncos-Carolina Panthers) had an overnight rating of 16.5.

The ratings do not include NBC's streaming audience, which is expected to be released with the total viewership for the game later Friday.

The dip in the overnight ratings comes after total viewership for NFL games last year fell by 8% compared to 2015.
