Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott has stepped into a new role as a replacement for Cam Newton — but not on the football field.

In commercials set to begin airing Monday, Prescott replaces Carolina Panthers QB Newton as the pitchman for Dannon's Oikos Triple Zero yogurt brand. Newton was dropped by the company in October after making controversial comments to a female reporter.

Prescott was announced as the brand's new face days after Newton said to a reporter, “It’s funny to hear a female talk about routes.”

Newton had served as a spokesperson for Dannon’s Oikos line of Greek yogurt since 2015, appearing in television ads, among other marketing efforts.

Jeffrey Rothman, Dannon’s vice president of marketing, stands by the move to Prescott, even as Newton heads into the playoffs (facing the New Orleans Saints on Sunday), while Prescott and the Cowboys stay home.

“The decision made with Cam was based on a specific comment he made toward a female journalist, which didn’t reflect our values as a company,” Rothman told Paste BN Sports. “We are going to continue to make decisions that support equality and diversity."
