One of Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s first assignments in his new job with NBC Sports was a race.

Earnhardt, who retired from full-time NASCAR competition in November, will be working with the network at several big-ticket events, including the Super Bowl and next week's Pyeongchang Olympics.

But on Sunday, before the Patriots and Eagles kicked off Super Bowl LII, Earnhardt braved the Minneapolis cold with reigning Monster Energy Cup Series champion Martin Truex Jr. - who was pulling for the Eagles - and Ryan Blaney, donned in a Patriots cap and scarf - for a little snow tubing.

There were no rules, but Earnhardt came up just short.

Among the sports Earnhardt tried his hand at while joking he was pitching a Minnesota winterland vacation to his wife, Amy, were broomball and skijoring.

"I just learned how to play Broomball. It's like hockey but in funny shoes and sticks that evolved from brooms dipped in wax. I know that's a lot to process. Extremely fun though," he tweeted.

But skijoring looked pretty intense.

"I just learned skijoring. You put on cross country ski and strap yourself to a greyhound dog and hold the duck on. I'm going home to talk Minnesota winter vacation with the wife ASAP."

And here's a look at his arrival Thursday. It seems Earnhardt is on the fast track to navigating the bitter cold, which he'll also encounter in South Korea.
