After months and months of offseason, the NFL is finally back.

The regular season opens Thursday and this weekend with a loaded Week 1 slate that gets underway with the NFL’s annual Thursday Night Kickoff game, and this year, it’s a little more noteworthy. The league is commemorating its 100th season and is doing so with one of its oldest rivalries. For the 199th time in league history, the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears will face off in Soldier Field in what is one of five matchups this week between divisional foes. The Bears and quarterback Mitchell Trubisky will try to defend their NFC North championship from last season against a Packers squad in its first season under rookie coach Matt LaFleur.

Over in the AFC, the big matchup takes place Sunday night between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the New England Patriots. Both these perennial powers are undergoing some transition, as Steelers passer Ben Roethlisberger looks to steer an offense that lost running back Le’Veon Bell and receiver Antonio Brown this offseason, while Bill Belichick and Tom Brady will try to overcome the retirement of star tight end Rob Gronkowski and former defensive assistant Brian Flores.
