The Dallas Cowboys' Super Bowl aspirations are just a dream
Missing an iconic future Hall of Fame quarterback?
No problem, say the Saints.
Behind backup Teddy Bridgewater and a stifling defense, New Orleans shut down the explosive Dallas Cowboys on Sunday night in the Superdome.
The Saints' win knocked the Cowboys from the ranks of the NFL's unbeaten and proved to Paste BN Sports' Jarrett Bell that such an embarrassing loss proves any Super Bowl aspirations in Dallas are just a dream.
And the Cowboys weren't alone in suffering their first loss.
The Los Angeles Rams were stunned at home by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who set a franchise record for points scored in a game.
Elsewhere, the Buffalo Bills and Detroit Lions lost to the New England Patriots and Kansas City Chiefs, respectively, in showdowns featuring unbeaten teams. On Thursday night, the Philadelphia Eagles beat the previously unbeaten Green Bay Packers. That leaves just the Patriots, Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers — who were on a bye this week — as the NFL's lone unbeaten teams.

Inside the action
- Freddie Kitchens passes big test: Kitchens won't acknowledge it, but his Browns team entered Sunday's contest against the Ravens at something of a crossroads.
- Defense will keep Bears in playoff hunt: So long as Chicago has Khalil Mack and even half of its ferocious defense, the Bears only need someone who is serviceable under center.
- Are the Lions legit contenders? Sure, the Lions lost to the Chiefs, but the team stayed with the most explosive team in the NFL.
- Time for change in Arizona? The loss to the Seahawks left the Cardinals winless in the first month of the season for the second consecutive season.
Week 4 rundown
- Saints 12, Cowboys 10: New Orleans has more than a pulse playing without its iconic quarterback.
- Jaguars 26, Broncos 24: The Jaguars' last-second win meant that all four AFC South teams are 2-2.
- Seahawks 27, Cardinals 10: Kyler Murray's early NFL experience continues to be a mixed bag.
- Bears 16, Vikings 6: The Bears defense is good to keep the team winning no matter who is behind center.
- Buccaneers 55, Rams 40: Ndamukong Suh capped the Bucs' 50-burger by returning a Jared Goff fumble for a touchdown against his former team.
- Chargers 30, Dolphins 10: This was the Chargers' first win in Miami since the famous "Epic in Miami" playoff game on Jan. 2, 1982.
- Panthers 16, Texans 10: Carolina overcame three fumbles by QB Kyle Allen to earn the road win.
- Patriots 16, Bills 10: In New England's 20-year domination of Buffalo, the Bills often handed the Patriots the win. This was one such game.
- Raiders 31, Colts 24: The Colts got stomped in their own stadium a week before facing the unbeaten Chiefs.
- Browns 40, Ravens 25: Cleveland earned a statement win on the road in an early season must-win situation.
- Titans 24, Falcons 10: Marcus Mariota's three first-half touchdowns helped Tennessee end a two-game skid.
- Chiefs 34, Lions 30: Kansas City stayed unbeaten thanks to a last-minute comeback.
- Giants 24, Redskins 3: The Daniel Jones-led Giants have won two straight and are back in the playoff hunt.
- Eagles 34, Packers 27 (Thursday): Philadelphia picked up a huge road win, doing so by gouging Green Bay's defense for 176 yards rushing.
Eyes on the (fantasy) prize
The start of the bye weeks typically depletes the fantasy waiver wires to an even greater extent than usual. However, the search for the next big thing can occasionally lead to slow-starting players being cut loose prematurely.
- For example, veteran Jordan Howard saw the most snaps of any Eagles running back on Thursday night. He turned them into a pair of touchdowns on the ground and another one through the air. Philly has another favorable matchup in Week 5 at home against the Jets.
- Is it time to reconsider Buccaneers RB Ronald Jones? In a shootout with the Rams, he rushed for 70 yards and a TD ... and also caught at 12-yard pass.
- With a team-high 12 targets, WR Mohamed Sanu (nine receptions, 91 yards) seems to have moved ahead of Calvin Ridley in the Falcons’ pecking order.
- Titans WR Corey Davis had his best game of the season with five receptions for 91 yards and a TD. Teammate A.J. Brown was only targeted three times, but he caught them all for 94 yards and two scores. They have the Bills and Broncos up next, but the schedule gets much easier after that.
- And pass-catching Browns TE Ricky Seals-Jones filled the void left when David Njoku went on injured reserve by hauling in three passes for 82 yards and a TD.
