Troy Aikman forgot that Rams receiver Cooper Kupp's dad, Craig, was his backup with Cowboys

Craig Kupp probably wasn't expecting to hear his name during Thursday night's broadcast of the Los Angeles Rams-Seattle Seahawks game
But Kupp's former teammate — who had apparently forgotten they were former teammates — was sure to shout out the father of Rams receiver Cooper Kupp.
Fox Sports NFL commentator Troy Aikman was reminded by a Los Angeles Times story published this week that the elder Kupp was his backup quarterback in the early 1990s, and he informed viewers of the longstanding Aikman-Kupp connection.
"Cooper Kupp's dad was my backup at one point for the Cowboys back in 1991, Craig Kupp," Aikman said between plays in the second quarter. " ... I didn't even know that Craig was Cooper's dad. He was there for, I don't know, maybe two cups of coffee. It wasn't very long. Craig, I miss you my man, hope you're well."
Craig Kupp was a fifth-round pick by the New York Giants in 1990. He also played for the Arizona Cardinals during his brief NFL career. His father, Jake, was an offensive lineman for the Cowboys and New Orleans Saints, where he blocked for Archie Manning, whose first son is named Cooper.
In Thursday night's game, Cooper Kupp caught nine passes for 117 yards and a touchdown against the Seahawks, giving him four scores in five games this year. The Rams lost 30-29.

Aikman, a three-time Super Bowl champion and Hall of Fame inductee, has been in the news more than usual. He had a seething response to Fox Sports colleague Doug Gottlieb regarding the latter's tweet about Andrew Luck retiring. Aikman also went viral last week for bristling at a comparison to Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
