Cowboys stunned by previously winless Jets. Is the Marcus Mariota era over in Tennessee?

Sam Darnold returned from his bout with mononucleosis to lead the New York Jets to the upset of the season so far. The Dallas Cowboys, meanwhile, are left looking for answers following a third consecutive defeat.
While the Cowboys look like pretenders, the San Francisco 49ers look like legit contenders. They improved to 5-0 with a decisive win over the defending NFC champion Los Angeles Rams. The 49ers and New England Patriots are the lone remaining unbeaten teams.
It was a rough Sunday for the top two selections in the 2015 NFL draft. After Jameis Winston threw five interceptions in a loss to the Carolina Panthers in London, Marcus Mariota was benched in a loss to the Denver Broncos. One has to wonder if both franchises will move on at the quarterback position after this season.

Week 6 rundown

- Jets 24, Cowboys 22: This stunning upset crushed a lot of survivor pool hopes and dreams.
- Broncos 16, Titans 0: The ugly loss is even more disconcerting given that Tennessee benched QB Marcus Mariota.
- 49ers 20, Rams 7: San Francisco is off to its best start since 1990.
- Cardinals 34, Falcons 33: Arizona has won two straight games, thanks in part to Matt Bryant missing an extra point with 1:53 left to play.
- Texans 31, Chiefs 24: The Texans dealt the Chiefs a second consecutive loss at Arrowhead.
- Vikings 38, Eagles 20: The Eagles' return trip to U.S. Bank Stadium not quite as enjoyable as their Super Bowl LII win.
- Seahawks 32, Browns 28: The Browns blew a 20-6 lead with more undisciplined play.
- Ravens 23, Bengals 17: The Bengals are 0-6 for the first time since 2008.
- Saints 13, Jaguars 6: After getting inadvertently blessed by the Pope, the Saints improved to 4-0 without Drew Brees.
- Redskins 17, Dolphins 16: Bad news for Washington fans is that their team likely played themselves out of contention for the No. 1 overall draft pick with this win.
- Panthers 37, Buccaneers 26: Kyle Allen is on a roll. Jameis Winston? Not so much.
- Patriots 35, Giants 14 (Thursday): The Giants kept it close for a while, but the scoreboard ultimately revealed an outcome that was for many a foregone conclusion.
Eyes on the (fantasy) prize
Takeaways from a fantasy perspective for Week 6:
- The stock of two former fantasy stalwarts is back on the rise. Chargers TE Hunter Henry returned to action for the first time since suffering a knee injury in Week 1 and looked like he never missed a beat. Henry had eight catches for 100 yards and two touchdowns. He’s a TE1 going forward. Also, Redskins running back Adrian Peterson registered season highs in carries (23) and rushing yards (118) in Week 6. Facing the winless Dolphins might have been a factor, but new coach Bill Callahan’s run-first philosophy will put the ball in Peterson’s hands much more often. They may not be available in all leagues, but if anxious owners in yours cut Henry or Peterson due to their lack of production, now’s the time to pounce.
- Sunday’s surprise star was Seahawks WR Jaron Brown, who scored on two of his three receptions for 29 yards. The loss of TE Will Dissly to an Achilles injury could result in more targets for Brown going forward.
- It’s always risky depending on a Patriots running back, but Brandon Bolden racked up 45 total yards and scored a touchdown for the third consecutive week. He could be a helpful bye-week filler.
- It’s even riskier depending on a Dolphins running back, but Mark Walton has been getting regular work lately. Against the Redskins, he had six carries for 32 yards and five catches for 43 more.
