Washington Redskins wide receiver Cody Latimer was arrested late Friday by the Douglas County Sheriff's Office and booked early Saturday on five charges after police say shots were fired inside a Colorado apartment five miles from the Denver Broncos' practice facilities.

Latimer, who entered the NFL in 2014, posted bond of $25,000 after being detained at the Douglas County Detention Facility. According to the police report, the 27-year-old was charged with assault in the second degree, menacing, illegal discharge of a firearm, prohibited use of a weapon and reckless endangerment.

The police report detailed that neighbors heard arguing in an apartment before hearing what they thought were gunshots. When Douglas County deputies arrived on the scene, three individuals were detained and Latimer was arrested. One person had minor injuries unrelated to gunshots, and no other injuries were reported.

“We are aware of the situation and have informed the NFL League Office," the Redskins told ESPN. "We will continue to gather more information and have no further comment at this time.”

Latimer was a second-round pick to the Broncos in the 2014 NFL draft and spent four years with Denver before spending the 2018 and 2019 seasons with the New York Giants. Latimer signed with the Redskins last month. He played college football for Indiana.

This isn't Latimer's first run-in with the law. In May 2016, he was arrested for an outstanding traffic ticket. He claimed he was a victim of domestic violence at the hands of his girlfriend before the arrest.
