TAMPA, Fla. — Let the Super Bowl trash talk begin.

Tampa mayor Jane Castor said she has talked with Kansas City mayor Quinton Lucas, and a wager on their respective teams — the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Kansas City Chiefs — is shaping up.

“He communicated that he was very aware Tampa is the cigar capital of the nation, and so I told him I would be sure to supply him with some of the world’s best cigars,’’ Castor told Paste BN Sports Monday. “And in addition, I told him I would supply him with enough Tampa Bay craft beer to drown all the Kansas City fans’ sorrows when we hoist that Lombardi Trophy in our own backyard.’’

Zing!

What will Tampa’s mayor get if Tom Brady and the Bucs prevail Sunday in Super Bowl 55 at Raymond James Stadium?

“We’ll take some of that barbecue Kansas City has,’’ she said.

Castor happily described Mayor Lucas’ response to her prediction that the Bucs would beat the Chiefs.

“He just laughed,’’ she said. “He knew it was true. Sort of that anxious laugh, you know?"

Morgan Said, communications director for Kansas City's mayor, responded, "“The mayor’s office looks forward to sharing Kansas City’s delicious barbecue with Tampa residents.’’
