Cardinals star J.J. Watt channels his inner 'Ted Lasso' with inspiring message
Arizona Cardinals star J.J. Watt channeled his inner Ted Lasso when reflecting on Sunday’s close victory over the Minnesota Vikings. The All-Pro defender posted a photo wearing an A.F.C. Richmond shirt on his Twitter account.
Watt shared the caption “Like Ted says … Believe.” The tagline is a big theme from the Apple TV series that features actor Jason Sudeikis and actress Hannah Waddingham, among others. The series follows Ted Lasso, who is portrayed by Sudeikis, as he navigates coaching the English soccer club in league play.
Watt is no stranger to the soccer world. His wife, Kealia Watt, is a National Women’s Soccer League standout with the Chicago Red Stars. The couple met during their time in Houston as members of the Texans and Dash respectively.

This season, Watt is embarking on a unique venture with the Cardinals. Much like Ted Lasso, Watt is adjusting to his new team. He has recorded four tackles, one quarterback hit and one tackle for loss in two games.
Watt has already left an impact. Cardinals defensive coordinator Vance Joseph told reporters last week that Watt was disruptive in the season opener against the Tennessee Titans.
"He obviously took some blockers," Joseph told the Arizona Republic. "He was being chipped from the inside position, he was being doubled a lot, which actually freed (Chandler Jones) up some and that's the way it should work when you have a guy like J.J. and (Jones). They're picking their poison.
"You can either you're picked up (Chandler) or J.J., you can't double (team) both guys all the time. So, he got some double teams and (Jones) got more one-on-one. It was a great day for (Jones). He played hard. He can play better and he should play better this week."
The Cardinals will face the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday. Watt will also get a chance to face his former team on Oct. 24.
