NFL Halloween costume round-up: 'Sack Reaper,' golfers, John Wick ... Oh, my

NFL Sunday came with tricks and treats this Halloween.

For the Pittsburgh Steelers, a trick play in the first half ended with an injured kicker, not a touchdown. The treat ultimately came later for the Steelers, who overcame the faux pas to beat the Cleveland Browns, 15-10.

New York Jets backup quarterback Mike White delivered the sweetest treat to Jets fans with a surprising 34-31 win over the Bengals.

But the real fun happened before the games as players around the league embraced the spooky spirit with a wide variety of Halloween costumes.

QBs' worst nightmare

Two-time Pro Bowler Myles Garrett added another sack Sunday in the Browns' loss to the Steelers. Though his defensive efforts weren't enough to push the Browns to victory, Garrett made headlines with his choice of Halloween costume.

Doing his best impression of the Grim Reaper, or "Sack Reaper," Garrett put on an orange mask and wore a black cape with the list of quarterbacks, 33 of them, he has sacked

The outfit added to Garrett's month-long celebration of fall festivities. Earlier in the month, reporters shared a photo of Garret's yard decorated like a cemetery. This was no ordinary cemetery. The tombstones had the names of seven NFL quarterbacks.

“The backstory of the cemetery? I'm kind of a troll a little bit, and people in my house like to have fun,” Garrett said. “My family and friends, they thought it would be something cool to do for Halloween.”

Cleveland's honorable mentions

Garrett wasn't the only Browns player to catch the Halloween spirit. Several honorable mentions showed up Sunday in costume, including wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. as singer Michael Jackson from the music video "Thriller" and kicker Chase McLaughlin doing his best "Happy Gilmore" impression with punter Jamie Gillan.

Dressed to the nine (irons)

The Buffalo Bills came ready to tee off before defeating the Dolphins, 26-11. Quarterback Josh Allen dressed as golf-great Phil Mickelson, who seemed flattered.

"Josh Allen just became the most seductive man on the planet," a post shared on Mickelson Twitter said.

It seemed to be a theme among the Buffalo QBs.

Aaron Rodgers' reveal

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has sported a long hairdo through the first eight weeks of the season. In September he told The Pat McAfee Show there was a meaning behind the madness

"This has been a year in the making for my costume," Rodgers said when asked about his look.

He revealed he was going to be "somebody who is a hero of mine who has longish hair."

Apparently, Rodgers' hero is the Keanu Reeves' titular character in the "John Wick" film franchise. After much anticipation, Rodgers shared his costume on Instagram, recreating the "good dog" scene from the 2019 movie "John Wick: Chapter 3 — Parabellum."

Fans find laughs in spite of frightful Lions

Lions fans found a way to laugh about the current state of their 0-8 Detroit Lions, who lost 44-6 Sunday in a lopsided game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Earlier in the month, fans in nearby Newport, Michigan set up a display of skeletons including two sitting with a sign that read:

"Waiting for the Detroit Lions to win the Super Bowl."
