EAST RUTHERFORD, N.Y. - Daniel Jones has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Miami Dolphins, ending speculation about the status of the New York Giants quarterback due to a neck strain.

Mike Glennon will start for the Giants and newly acquired Jake Fromm will serve as his backup, according to Giants coach Joe Judge.

Jones will still be on the trip with the team to Miami and then Arizona as the Giants spend the week in Tucson before going to Los Angeles for their Dec. 12 game against the Chargers.

The final determination on Jones was made Friday morning, Judge said, when team doctors did not clear the quarterback for contact.

OPINION: These are not the same ole Cincinnati Bengals

He had practiced the previous two days while wearing a non-contact jersey - which is typical for quarterbacks - and Jones was listed as a limited participant.

Glennon turns 32 next weekend and he went 0-5 as a starter for the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2020.
