The Indianapolis Colts are one win away from clinching a playoff spot, and they'll likely have starting quarterback Carson Wentz to lead the way after a bout with COVID-19.

The Colts (9-6) activated Wentz off the reserve/COVID-19 list Saturday just in time for Sunday’s game against the Las Vegas Raiders (8-7). The unvaccinated quarterback was originally placed on the reserve list after he tested positive for the virus on Tuesday, casting doubt on his availability for the key matchup.

But Wentz benefited from the NFL's modified COVID protocol. Under the new guidelines implemented Tuesday afternoon, asymptomatic individuals can return after five days in isolation, down from 10 days. That applies to both vaccinated and unvaccinated players.

Saturday marked Wentz's fifth day in quarantine. He still has to show up Sunday with his symptoms "resolved or improved," according to the new NFL policy, but the expectation is that he will be ready to start. If Wentz is unable to play against the Raiders, the Colts will turn to his backup, sixth-round rookie Sam Ehlinger.

Meanwhile, Raiders quarterback Derek Carr is good to go after dealing with a rib injury. The Raiders must win against the Colts and the Los Angeles Chargers for a chance to make the playoffs.
