Cam Newton is a free agent and trying to latch on with another NFL team. His latest comments won't help.

In an appearance on the Barstool Sports Million Dollaz Worth of Game podcast that published Sunday, Newton made sexist comments about the role of women in society.

"I had a perfect, a perfect example of what a man was in my life by my father," Newton said in the episode. "My parents have been together for 36, 37 years now and it’s a beautiful thing I grew up in a three-parent household: my mom, my father and my grandmother and I knew what a woman was, not a bad (expletive), a woman."

When asked what the difference was, Newton elaborated.

“A bad (expletive) is a person who is just, you know: ‘Girl, I’m a bad (expletive), I’m doing this, I’m doing that. I look the part but I don’t act that part,' " Newton said. "And there’s a lot of women who are bad (expletives), and I say (expletives) in a way not to degrade a woman, but just to go off the aesthetic of what they deem is a boss chick.

"Now, a woman for me is, handling your own but knowing how to cater to a man’s needs. Right? And I think a lot of times when you get that aesthetic of: 'I’m a boss (expletive), Imma this, Imma that.' No, baby. But you can’t cook. You don’t know when to be quiet. You don’t know how to allow a man to lead."

Paste BN Sports has reached out to Newton's agent, Bus Cook, for comment.

Newton, 32, played eight games last season with the Carolina Panthers, joining midway through the season. Newton started five games, all Panthers losses, and completed 54.8% of his passes for 684 yards with four touchdowns and five interceptions. He also ran for 230 yards with five scores.

Newton had been a free agent during the first half of the season when the New England Patriots released him in August after he lost the starting quarterback job to then-rookie Mac Jones.

Newton has been unsigned since the end of the 2021 season.

This isn't the first time Newton has made sexist comments. In an October 2017 press conference, he responded to a question from a female reporter about passing rhythm and timing with former teammate Devin Funchess by saying: “It’s funny to hear a female talk about routes. Like, it’s funny.”

On Sunday's podcast, Newton also talked about his views on masculinity.

"I'm also going to tell the men to start being men, bro," Newton continued. "That sucker (expletive) should not be rewarded."

Newton was asked to clarify what he meant by that and continued.

"When a person carries himself social media-wise and it's a fraud in real life," he said. "There's more to it. Every person that got money and every person who's rich isn't a real one. I think that gets misconstrued in this society now because a lot of people have money but they're not genuine people."

Newton was the No. 1 overall selection in the 2011 NFL draft for the Panthers and was named the 2015 AP Most Valuable Player of the Year.
