Fantasy football waiver wire Week 5: Tyler Allgeier and Latavius Murray are top targets

Week 4 of the 2022 NFL season is over. And what a week of football it was!

If you play fantasy football, you’re already planning ahead with waivers after a busy week of games.

That’s what we’re here for, a roundup of some of the players you could be targeting ahead of Week 5.

Some of the names below might be taken already, but if not, there are a bunch of dudes who could change your fantasy fortunes this season. Let’s run through them, in no particular order, and we’ve updated this after the Rams and 49ers game we saw on Monday Night Football.

NFL WEEK 4 WINNERS AND LOSERS: Eagles pass tough test; Ravens can't finish games

Tyler Allgeier, RB, Atlanta Falcons

Cordarrelle Patterson will miss some time due to a knee procedure that led the Falcons to place him on short-term IR.

So here’s a huge chance for the preseason darling after he averaged 8.4 yards per carry Sunday.

Latavius Murray, RB, Denver Broncos

No, your eyes aren’t deceiving you. Murray was activated by the New Orleans Saints on Sunday and ran 11 times for 57 yards and a score.

But he then got signed from the Saints’ practice squad by the Denver Broncos, and with Melvin Gordon perhaps in the doghouse with fumbling problems, there’s a path for Murray the rest of the season with Javonte Williams out for the year.

Mike Boone, RB, Denver Broncos

You could also go this route with the guy already on the roster, but I think the Murray pickup signals the Broncos could look his way especially after he looked so spry Sunday.

George Pickens, WR, Pittsburgh Steelers

With Mitchell Trubisky on the bench, it’s Kenny Pickett's time in Steeltown.

We saw the rookie wideout explode with Pickett under center, so if anyone dropped the sleeper onto your waiver wire, go get him.

WEEK 5 NFL PPOWER RANKINGS: Who moves up to No. 2 behind unbeaten Philadelphia Eagles?

Nyheim Hines, RB, Indianapolis Colts

We’ve seen this before: The starting RB for the Colts goes down with injury and Hines stays in his usual pass-catching role.

Still, he could get extra playing time on Thursday night if Jonathan Taylor misses the game against the Broncos.

Michael Gallup, WR, Dallas Cowboys

I’m betting he’s probably gone from your wire, but it might be worth checking.

Raheem Mostert, RB, Miami Dolphins

The usage is there (15 carries for 69 yards and two receptions last week) even if Chase Edmonds is finding the end zone. That’s significant.

Geno Smith, QB, Seattle Seahawks

Six touchdowns in four games, and he’s gone over 320 yards in his past two games. Plus, there were 49 rushing yards last week.

Kenny Pickett, QB, Pittsburgh Steelers

Ignore the three interceptions for now. Because he’s got great receivers and runners around him, and he could score some touchdowns with his legs.

Corey Davis, WR, New York Jets

A QB change for the Jets with Zach Wilson returning could mean Davis is the No. 1 receiver for the Jets — he caught five passes for 74 yards and a touchdown against the Steelers.
