Cap off the first Sunday of the NFL regular season with a "Sunday Night Football" matchup between two NFC East rivals: the Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants.

The Cowboys are coming off another disappointing end to their 2022 season, but "America's Team" remains one of the favorites to reach the Super Bowl. They will attempt to make the title game for the first time in 27 seasons. They still have a tenacious defense led by first-team all-Pro linebacker Micah Parsons, and quarterback Dak Prescott still has electric weapons in CeeDee Lamb and Tony Pollard.

New York is coming off a surprising 2022 season in which the team not only made the playoffs, but won its first playoff game since winning Super Bowl 46. Head coach Brian Daboll was named the AP coach of the year. The team brought back Saquon Barkley after a contract standoff, which will be a massive boost for quarterback Daniel Jones, who had a much improved last season, and will be looking to take the division title back from Dallas.

The Cowboys defense is going to give Giants QB Daniel Jones fits in the opener. This NFC East rivalry is always contentious but Dallas is the more talented club.

Victoria Hernandez: Giants 24, Cowboys 23

The Giants are carrying momentum from their first playoff appearance since 2016. They have some staples from last year's offense and welcome Pro Bowl tight end Darren Waller. The Cowboys have plenty of threats both on offense and defense, but New York playing at home has the slight edge.

Jordan Mendoza: Cowboys 26, Giants 20

Dallas is out to prove its the best team in the NFC East, and it will face a stern test from a Giants team that added tight end Darren Waller. Still, the Cowboys defense remains one of the best of the league and it prevents New York from breaking through in this game, while Tony Pollard solidifies himself as RB1.
