Let's ride into Mile High, with two AFC West team trying to turn around from disappointing 2022 seasons and make the playoffs.

It'll be a new look for the Las Vegas Raiders, with Jimmy Garoppolo now under center for Josh McDaniels, and the team got a major boost with Josh Jacobs returning to the squad.

The Nathaniel Hackett experiment failed for the Denver Broncos, but they are going all-in with Sean Payton in charge to help fulfill the expectations set when quarterback Russell Wilson was hired. Both teams finished at the bottom of the AFC West standings, and getting off to a 1-0 start will be a big step toward getting out of a strong division.

Lorenzo Reyes: Broncos 26, Raiders 21

Denver will unquestionably be better with an experienced and intensely-focused coach like Sean Payton, though it may make sense to give it a couple of weeks before backing the Broncos. Still, Payton’s track record with quarterbacks should help Russell Wilson play looser. And while Jimmy Garoppolo should be quite comfortable in this offense — given his experience playing under Josh McDaniels — the Raiders have been largely underwhelming under McDaniels.

Tyler Dragon: Broncos 20, Raiders 17

A battle between the two worst teams in the AFC West from a season ago. The winner of this game will have a strong start as they attempt to keep pace with the Chiefs and Chargers. The pressure is on Sean Payton to revitalize the Broncos after the talking he did this offseason.

Victoria Hernandez: Broncos 21, Raiders 19

The Broncos are going to pretend last year didn't happen, but we all know it did. Playing at home gives Denver an advantage and Sean Payton will probably make Russell Wilson productive again, but don't expect it to be a blowout and I wouldn't be super confident in them covering the spread.

Jordan Mendoza: Raiders 24, Broncos 23

Two teams looking to forget last season are pretty even on the field and it stays a close game. While Denver has a new coach with high expectations, the Raiders still have Josh Jacobs in the backfield, and his performance gets the Raiders the close win while showing why he deserves to be paid as one of the top running backs in the league.
