New York Jets at New York Giants: Predictions, picks and odds for NFL Week 8 game

Who is the true king of New York? The answer will be revealed Sunday when the New York Jets (3-3) face the New York Giants (2-5).

Considering the start they had, it's been a good first half of the season for the Jets, as they recently handed the Philadelphia Eagles their first loss of the season. The defense remains dominant and the leading force for the squad, and fresh off a bye week, can get back to over .500 with a third straight win.

After four straight losses thanks to an ineffective offense, the Giants were finally able to put together a solid effort in a home win against division rival Washington. The defense has now only given up 21 points in the past two weeks, and the offense finding the end zone under Tyrod Taylor gives the Giants optimism for the coming weeks.

NFL Week 8 odds, predictions and picks

Bills vs. Buccaneers | Panthers vs. Texans | Cowboys vs. Rams | Packers vs. Vikings | Colts vs. Saints | Dolphins vs. Patriots | Giants vs Jets | Steelers vs. Jaguars | Titans vs. Falcons | Commanders vs. Eagles | Seahawks vs. Browns | Cardinals vs. Ravens | Broncos vs. Chiefs | 49ers vs. Bengals | Chargers vs. Bears | Lions vs. Raiders

Lorenzo Reyes: Jets 20, Giants 14

This is basically a home game for both teams, but I like the Jets, coming off the bye, to take care of this line. The Giants have been more competitive with Tyrod Taylor under center, but the Jets have the better roster.

Tyler Dragon: Jets 20, Giants 19

The Jets have won two straight despite their deficiencies on offense. The Jets’ win streak is due in large part to their defense that’s forced seven turnovers the past two games. The Giants offense is operating better with Tyrod Taylor at QB.

Safid Deen: Jets 24, Giants 17

Zach Wilson is turning a corner with offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett, while Robert Saleh has the Jets believing in themselves more than any other team in the NFL. I like the Jets to beat the Giants, no matter if Daniel Jones returns or Tyrod Taylor starts again.

Victoria Hernandez: Jets 19, Giants 17

I went against my gut and picked the Giants to lose last week and regretted it. But this week, I do believe the Jets are the better team coming off their bye and two wins, including one over last year’s NFC champion. The Jets also have a strong defense even if their offense is mediocre.

Jordan Mendoza: Jets 16, Giants 13

Both teams are coming off strong wins, but the extra rest for the Jets will greatly benefit them in what should be a close game at MetLife Stadium. The Jets defense gets a great matchup against a suspect Giants offense, which gets Robert Saleh's squad the win. This game is a great candidate for lowest lowest-scoring game of the week with neither offense being explosive.
