Houston Texans wide receiver Nico Collins suffered an injury near the end of the first quarter against the Buffalo Bills in Week 5. The star wide receiver exited the game and went to the locker room. He did not return to the contest.

Collins is off to an outstanding start to the 2024 season, and his absence will result in a significant loss for the Texans' high-flying offense.

Here's the latest on the Texans wideout's status:

Nico Collins injury update

The Texans ruled Collins out for the remainder of their Week 5 game against Buffalo because of a hamstring injury. He finished his day with 2 catches for 78 yards and a touchdown.

Nico Collins left the game at the end of the first quarter quarter, with Houston leading 14-3.

Collins reeled in a 67-yard touchdown catch from CJ Stroud and appeared to slowly let up on his way into the end zone.

It was originally reported that Collins would be day-to-day ahead of Houston's Week 6 game against the New England Patriots. However, DeMeco Ryans said the team's top receiver would be week-to-week, which may make it tough for him to play against the Patriots.

"It takes a couple of weeks for a hamstring," Ryans said when discussing the injury, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Texans WR depth chart

The Texans have two talented wideouts in the lineup behind Collins. Veteran Stefon Diggs and second-year man Tank Dell will be asked to step up. Robert Woods and Xavier Hutchinson figure to be the next men up off the Houston bench, though Hutchinson played more snaps than Woods after Collins exited against the Bills.
