Will DK Metcalf play this week? Latest Week 8 injury updates on Seahawks WR

The Seattle Seahawks are 4-3 in first place in the NFC West entering Week 8. However, they may be without wide receiver DK Metcalf when they battle the Buffalo Bills this Sunday. The Seahawks star injured his knee, which forced him out of the game in Week 7.
The next day on Monday, Oct. 21, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that Metcalf had suffered a Grade 1 sprained MCL and is considered "week to week."
Seahawks coach Mike Macdonald provided a positive update on Metcalf's status after the game against the Falcons in Week 7. He said that Metcalf "banged his knee a little bit," but "it doesn't look too bad." The next day, he told reporters that Metcalf will "try to play this week." The Seahawks appear optimistic Metcalf's injury might be short-term.
Here's the latest on DK Metcalf's knee injury and whether he can suit up in Week 8 against the Bills:
Will DK Metcalf play this week vs. Bills?
The Seahawks have officially listed Metcalf as "doubtful" for the game this Sunday.
On Thursday, Oct. 24, offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb told reporters, "He's working his tail off."
After practice on Friday, Macdonald spoke to reporters regarding Metcalf's status. He said, "It's doubtful right now for the game. It's not out of the question 100 percent yet. He did not practice today." He added, "We'll see on Sunday and go from there."
The team and coaching staff appear to be leaving the window open slightly for Metcalf to play in Week 8. The 26-year-old receiver is approaching a true game-time decision. However, more clarity on the situation could be provided before Sunday.

Seahawks WR depth chart
- Tyler Lockett
- Jaxon Smith-Njigba
- Jake Bobo
- Dareke Young
- Laviska Shenault Jr.
Jake Bobo is the Seahawks' No. 4 receiver and has served as Metcalf's top backup throughout the season. The 6-4, 207-pound receiver went undrafted in 2023 but quickly has developed into a solid depth player for the Seahawks.
Bobo would likely see more action if Metcalf's injury causes him to miss any time. Dareke Young and Laviska Shenault would be the other candidates to get more snaps, while Tyler Lockett and Jaxon Smith-Njigba would absorb some of Metcalf's targets.
